Berlin,
Germany's old and new capital is a metropolis with a unique flair. The
beautiful historical part 'Athens on the Spree' lies in the East, and
the more cosmopolitan attractions, like the shopping and entertainment
district, are in the West. The never-sleeping 'city of contrasts', with
over 170 museums and 150 theatres, the unique nightlife, the thousands
of cafes, bars and restaurants, and its amazing shopping selection, fulfils
every desire.

Sights
& Attractions
The landmark of the
town is the BRANDENBURGER GATE, formerly next to the WALL,
and the entrance to UNTER DEN LINDEN, Berlin's beautiful historical
boulevard and the heart of the city. The city's key elements like shopping
promenades and browsing areas are around the KURFUERSTENDAMM and
together with the KAISER WILHELM MEMORIAL CHURCH, an anti-war monument,
they develop by night into a kaleidoscope of shimmering neon lights.
Further
attractions are the REICHSTAG, the new seat of the German parliament,
and the CHARLOTTENBURG PALACE, Berlin's most exclusive 'mansion',
the former summer residence for Prussian kings. The MUSEUM ISLAND
includes the OLD NATIONAL GALLERY and the PERGAMON MUSEUM,
which houses priceless antiquities like the Altar of Pergamon. At night
cabaret can be enjoyed at Europe's largest revue theatre, the FRIEDRICHSTADT
PALAST BERLIN.
Surrounding
Highlights
Berlin
is surrounded by the charming Brandenburg countryside. The beautiful Sanssouci
Palace in Potsdam is among the best examples of rococco style buildings.
One hour from Berlin lies the Spreewald, a unique lowland forest criss-crossed
by some 400 canals and rivers, which can be discovered by boat.
Maritim
Hotel Berlin
Close to
the famous boulevard ' Unter den Linden' lies the MARITM HOTEL PRO
ARTE with its impressive modern art. The radiating artistic flair
of the Hotel, the 'tastefully' served delicacies in one of the two restaurants
and the indoor pool, with sauna, steam room and fitness room make this
a perfect place to recuperate and to relax.
